This site contains photographs from many concerts. Most since 1970 were taken by me. The ROCK photos were taken at shows in venues all over the U.S. I started my work as a 'concert' photographer in 1970. I learned photogrpahy in the U.S. Army and on a whim starting shooting concerts which at the time was easy to do and unencumbered by promoters, venues and their security. In 1973 I was hired by Electric Factory Concerts in Philadelphia to shoot Pink Floyd at the Spectrum. So, my hobby became a paying gig - albeit the pay was insignificant. Over the years I've continued to shoot and while it has become more difficult to shoot independently I was fortunate to work as a producer with major concert promoters such as the Nederlander Organization and Universal and this afforded me the much desired photography credentials to shoot shows.
I produced my first concerts in 1968 - the Shirelles and Johnny Maestro & The Brooklyn Bridge and since then I've produced dozens of concerts featuring Rhythm and Blues, Doo Wop, Rockabilly and original rock artists from the 1950s - 1970s. And I've managed to photograph most of my shows.
In 1983 I produced a 9 hour concert featuring 20 great, veteran vocal groups from the 1950s. This show has been dubbed THE 1983 BURLINGTON CONCERT and it's now regarded a one of the greatest Doo Wop concerts of all time.
2008 is the Burlington Concert's 25th anniversary. Goldmine Magazine has published a great article by Todd Baptista recounting a little of its history in its April 2008 issue. This article can be found at:
In June 2008 a documentary film on the concert will be released on DVD. In October 2008 I am producing a huge 25th Anniversary Doo Wop Concert that will feature as many as 40 classic vocal groups from the 1950s and 1960s. Also in 2008 DVDs of the original 1983 concert with completely re-edited video including camera footage never before seen, interviews and a great re-mixed stereo soundtrack will be released.
